Bio

Hou Yifan became Women's World Champion in 2010 as a teenager and soon established herself as the dominant player of her generation.

Her strength went far beyond the women's championship cycle. Hou competed successfully in elite open events, reached the top of the women's rating list, and became widely regarded as one of the greatest female players ever.

Hou's games are exceptionally useful for study because they are modern, universal, and engine-era precise. She can squeeze small advantages, defend calmly, or calculate sharply when the position demands it.
