Why timed tactics matter
Competitive games don't give you unlimited time for every position. Practicing under a 30-second clock trains you to spot forcing moves quickly and commit with confidence when the position is sharp.
This pressure mirrors practical decision-making at the board: evaluate candidate moves fast, avoid paralysis, and manage your clock while staying accurate. Over time, that improves both tactical speed and competitive results.
Choose your clock
Hot Seat has separate 30-second and 60-second modes. The 30-second clock is built for quick pattern recognition, forcing moves, and decisive calculation. The 60-second clock gives you more room to compare candidate moves, check forcing replies, and build confidence in sharper positions.
Track rating progress
Each mode keeps its own rating, so faster sprints and deeper timed solves do not blur together. Correct answers raise your score, missed puzzles show the solution for review, and the next puzzle keeps the session moving without breaking the training rhythm.
Review every line
After a puzzle is solved or missed, use the move list, retry option, and Stockfish analysis to understand the tactic before continuing. This turns Hot Seat into more than a speed test: it is a practical way to sharpen calculation while still learning from every position.
