Editorial, Sourcing and Corrections Policy
Authorship and review
Team-produced pages are published by IgniteChess Editorial. Named reviewers are credited only after a genuine review, with the review date shown on the page. An unreviewed page does not imply review by anyone else.
Authors and reviewers are linked to stable profiles. Material changes update the visible modification date and matching structured data.
Sources and conflicting records
Priority articles and guides identify their material sources. IgniteChess prefers official federation results, event or organizer records, original game scores, and primary documentation. Reputable secondary histories are used for context or where primary archives are incomplete.
Historical chess records sometimes disagree about names, dates, shared titles, formats, or interrupted events. When credible sources conflict, the page should state the discrepancy and explain which record was followed. Recent claims are checked against an official source where one is available.
Game and position verification
PGNs are retained as reviewable source material where the feature supports them. Game headers and moves are checked for internal consistency, and moves are parsed with chess.js so illegal or malformed scores fail validation. Source or broadcast links are preserved when available.
Stockfish assists analysis and engine play. Engine evaluations depend on the position, depth, time, hash, and build; they are analytical outputs, not historical evidence.
Supported endgame positions may be checked against the self-hosted Fathom/Syzygy tablebase service. IgniteChess currently probes loaded positions with no more than five pieces. Tablebase win/draw/loss and distance values are exact only for positions covered by the installed files and applicable rules.
Corrections
To report an error, use the correction contact form. Include the affected page URL, the disputed statement or data, the proposed correction, and supporting evidence.
IgniteChess checks the report against the cited and best available sources. Confirmed substantive corrections update the page and its modification date.
