Alekhine exercised his right to a rematch against Euwe in the Netherlands two years after losing the title. Euwe entered as defending champion, although this collection keeps the Alekhine–Euwe name order used by the ticket.

Alekhine regained the championship with ten wins, four losses and eleven draws. His 15½–9½ points total ended the match after twenty-five games. The decisive victory reversed the outcome of their 1935 contest.

All 25 played games appear below in match order. The game records preserve the archive’s player names, round numbers and dates, including unknown date components. Select either player in the embedded trainer to work through the decisions from that side. A drawn game remains a complete exercise for both players.
