Bogoljubow returned for a second championship challenge against Alekhine five years after their first match. Their rematch travelled through several German venues.

Alekhine retained the title with eight wins, three losses and fifteen draws. The twenty-six games produced a 15½–10½ points score. As in 1929, the conditions required both six wins and more than fifteen points.

All 26 played games appear below in match order. The game records preserve the archive’s player names, round numbers and dates, including unknown date components. Select either player in the embedded trainer to work through the decisions from that side. A drawn game remains a complete exercise for both players.
